Wisdom, Comforter, Spirit of Truth and Holy Spirit equal one

This entry is part 2 of 6 in the series The Mystery of Jesus Series

We often think of wisdom as “the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgement”. This definition is applicable in many scenarios; however, the Bible and other inspired scriptures ascribe another meaning. Without wisdom, nobody can enter into the kingdom of God. So does this mean everyone must be a highly intelligent philosophical scholar to enter the kingdom? No, it doesn’t, but because wisdom is crucial to know God, it is significant to understand what it is. Part of deciphering this puzzle is understanding that Wisdom, the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth and the Comforter are one and the same.

Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

John 16:13

But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.

John 16:13

When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future.

John 16:13

When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.

John 16:13

One and the same

One Spirit: Wisdom, Holy Spirit, Spirit of Truth, Comforter.

In each of the following sub-sections, a comparison is made between two of the names. Scriptural passages are presented to show indisputable equality to bring home the message.

Comforter equals Spirit of Truth

But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

John 15:26

When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me.

John 15:26

But I will send you the Advocate—the Spirit of truth. He will come to you from the Father and will testify all about me.

John 15:26

But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me.

John 15:26

The passage, without any fuss, demonstrates the equality between these two names. The Comforter is equal to the Spirit of Truth. The Spirit of Truth, as seen so far, comes from the Father, testifies of Jesus and comes to lead the followers of God into all truths.

He leads us not only into the truths of God but exposes the machinations and lies of this world. How he does this has been the quest of many for a long time, including the wicked. But, like how the wind appears and disappears, that is how the Spirit works (John 3:8).

Nobody knows how he operates.

Comforter equals Holy Spirit

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John 14:26

But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

John 14:26

But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.

John 14:26

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

John 14:26

In the previous section, various translations use other names for the Comforter: Advocate and Helper. Now we see the Holy Ghost and Holy Spirit being different translations within the King James Version to represent the same entity.

Nevertheless, the relationship between the Comforter and Holy Spirit is established without a doubt.

Holy Spirit equals Wisdom

And thy counsel who hath known, except thou give wisdom, and send thy Holy Spirit from above?

Wisdom of Solomon 9:17 KJV

Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

Acts 6:3

Brothers and sisters, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them

Acts 6:3

And so, brothers, select seven men who are well respected and are full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will give them this responsibility.

Acts 6:3

Therefore, brothers, pick out from among you seven men of good repute, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we will appoint to this duty.

Acts 6:3

In one instance, it appears wisdom comes from the Holy Spirit. Then looking at the reference in Acts, we understand that Wisdom is equivalent to the Holy Ghost. This insight establishes the equality of the two as the same entity.

Additionally, the following reference further establishes Wisdom as not a state but an entity to consolidate this understanding.

For wisdom is a loving spirit; and will not acquit a blasphemer of his words: for God is witness of his reins, and a true beholder of his heart, and a hearer of his tongue.

Wisdom of Solomon 1:6 KJV

Law of equality

Logic and mathematics dictate that if a equals b, then b equals a.

  • the Comforter is the Spirit of truth
  • the Comforter is the Holy Spirit (Holy Ghost)
  • the Holy Spirit is Wisdom

Since the Comforter (Advocate/Helper) = the Spirit of truth = the Holy Spirit (Holy Ghost) = Wisdom, they all equal each other. They are the same entity.

Conclusion

Humble yourself like a child. Pride is the beginning of sin.

This understanding brings this precept to life and enables a better understanding of the scriptures. The ONE creation of God brings further insight into this being who is required for anyone to enter the kingdom of God.

Wisdom, the breath of the power of God (John 15:26), is a must in anyone’s life if they desire to see God.

For she is the breath of the power of God, and a pure influence flowing from the glory of the Almighty: therefore can no defiled thing fall into her.

Wisdom of Solomon 7:25

In conclusion, the knowledge of God comes from God. The only begotten Son proceeds from the Father (John 16:28) and is the only one who knows the Father.

All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whom soever the Son will reveal him.

Matthew 11:27

All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

Matthew 11:27

My Father has entrusted everything to me. No one truly knows the Son except the Father, and no one truly knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

Matthew 11:27

All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

Matthew 11:27
